How could rock ever be played out with a band like The Warning at the helm of the genre? It’s not just that the sister trio from Monterrey, Mexico bring fresh perspective to the white, male-dominated landscape. It’s also the fact that, since screaming into nominative existence with 2017’s ‘XXI Century Blood’ and ‘Queen of the Murder Scene’ the following year, evolution and authenticity has been at the crux of their craft. For starters, Daniela, Paulina, and Alejandra Villarreal are total players. Check the bass riff that kicks off “Dust to Dust” for instance. It’d make Steve Harris blush. 2022 album ‘ERROR’ traded turnt-up arrangements for more subtle guitar styles, clearing out room for Daniela to really shout from the chest. The community responded by making it one of the most popular rock records of that year. Once you watch these live takes of “Hell You Call A Dream” and “Automatic Sun,” it’ll come as no surprise that Muse, Guns N’ Roses, and Foo Fighters have invited las hermanas for opener slots. Gracie Abrams - The Secret of Us (Short Film) | Vevo Extended Play
The world got to know Gracie Abrams this year. More importantly, she got to know herself quite a bit better too. That’s the story behind ‘The Secret of Us,’ the singer-songwriter’s lush, confessional, and revelatory second album. The 13-song project arrived this summer in the wake of successful singles “Risk” and “Close to You,” a pair of tracks that stuck a couple toes out from under the whispery quilt of her previous work. An emergence from her shell was foreshadowed: Listeners could find jubilant synths, assertively strummed guitars, and toe-tapping tempos on 2021’s “Mess It Up” and in pockets of her debut album ‘Good Riddance.’ This is an artist who once considered songwriting and singing a “private practice.” During our Extended Play short film, the LA native reflects on how her withdrawn vocal style stemmed from a desire “not to be heard” while practicing and writing in her bedroom. These days, Gracie’s getting heard a lot. ‘The Secret of Us’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. And this will be two autumns in a row that she’s opening for Taylor Swift. Followers are already responding in a huge way to these Vevo versions of songs from the album. The stirring “I Love You, I’m Sorry” take that we captured in Valentine Studios spread like wildfire across TikTok with more the 100k creates in the days following its premiere, quickly making it a high point of our young Extended Play series. Limitless imagination is a defining characteristic of great musicians - J Balvin proves that. Halsey - Lonely is the Muse | Vevo Official Live Performance
If you found yourself on Halsey’s Instagram in October 2024, you’d have a hard time finding Halsey anywhere. Instead, you’d come face to face with Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Joni Mitchell and… oh, wait that IS Halsey! Fans have long marveled at the pop virtuoso’s world building skills (who could forget the ornate, gothic scenery of 2021’s ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power?’), but it feels like Halsey has taken the biggest creative swing of her career with ‘The Great Impersonator.’ She labels it a “confessional concept album.” As the October 25 release day approached, fans watched her inhabit a kaleidoscope of musical heroes. That was only the beginning. We decided to take the nostalgic trip one step further with these Official Live Performances, seeking to answer the questions: “What if Halsey arrived in a different time? What if she recorded in the 1970s, 80s, 90s or early 2000’s?” So we built four interconnected stages reflective of each decade - with vintage outfits and instruments to match. We captured the action on 35mm film for that timeless feel. Leaning into personal authenticity, Halsey did her own makeup. Team Vevo and Team Halsey’s long history of collaboration allowed this to be one of the series’ most ambitious shoots. The fun kicks off on album release day, and spills into the next week. Our Extended Play series is tailor made for a band like Imagine Dragons. On the one hand, the pop-rockers' scale and ambition can barely be contained by the stadiums they regularly sell out. For the group behind ubiquitous hits like “Thunder,” “Radioactive,” and “Believer,” success is measured in millions and billions. Such impact can feel impenetrable, but our performance-interview series is all about pulling back the curtain a bit. And on the other hand there’s singer Dan Reynolds. An open book, he’s the band’s primary songwriter, and a fascinating one at that. We saw that up close when we linked up with ID at Conway Studios, where Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, and bassist Ben McKee created their latest album, ‘LOOM,’ under the guidance of producers Mattman & Robin. “In Your Corner” is the latest performance from our Extended Play session, following “Nice To Meet You,” “Eyes Closed,” and “Don’t Forget me.” A revealing interview is on the way, it goes deep into this track’s emphasis on loyalty.

Beer blossomed from there and went pro, dropping a string of singles that began in 2015. But her first big splash arrived when she put her emotions up front in last year’s “Selfish,” which was built on the “honesty and vulnerability” of real romantic events. Tate McRae - we're not alike (Live) | Vevo Extended Play
It's a thrill to watch an artist blossom, to see them fulfill the dream of becoming an adventurous creative whose work impacts a deeply devoted audience. That's why we're tickled to continue our work with Tate McRae. Four years ago we invited the then teen to our DSCVR program, where she delivered engaging performances of "feel like shit" and "happy face." A couple years later she was back for a heart-rending piano-and-voice version of "she's all i wanna be," whose intimacy bordered on frightening. Along the way her articulation grew, her perspectives broadened, and the feels she put front and center became more powerful. YouTube channel, TikTok feed, the eloquence of each track on 'i used to think i could fly' - they all nudged her forward and deepened her relationship with her ever-grown cadre of fans. When 'THINK LATER' hit at the end of '23, it was obviously time to capture McRae in action again. Our Extended Play team worked with Tate to craft performances in settings that enhance her music and amplify her vision. The Calgary native is now an LA local, and these performances of "exes," "we're not alike," and "hurt my feelings" unfold in a shadowy SoCal bedroom where memories stand in the corners and the roller coaster of romance provides thrills both wanted and unwanted. "I think it's taken time to figure out who Tate is," says the 20-year-old, "[these days] I've really figured out what my style is, what I like to write about, what I like to feel like when I'm on stage, how I like to feel, feeling sexy in my own body...that's when I feel happiest: when I'm truly in a moment with love and friendships and relationships - when you're fully there." Nothing's gonna stop Lucky Daye - he’s been smashing through walls his whole life. David Debrandon Brown grew up in a New Orleans home that banned secular music, but on the sly, he still managed to have fun cranking up The Gap Band. When Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city and his family moved to Texas, Lucky began dreaming of a music career, and got some positive feedback during a stint in ATL. A road trip to Los Angeles connected the proud Libra with producer D Mile, and in an instance of cosmic luck, the duo refined their take on groove music and developed a singular plan: “Let’s get funky, let’s get musical and let’s get unorthodox lyrically.” The result? Four Grammy noms for ‘Painted.’ Not bad for a debut album, which includes “Call,” a samba-infused plea for romantic communication, and “Fade Away,” which is part of ‘The Photograph’ soundtrack. If our Official Live Performances of “pov” and “safety net” reveal anything, it’s that Ariana Grande excels at her job because she’s so passionate about the results. You don’t hit the high notes, you don’t exude candor, and you don’t make pop music as moving as she does without crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s. A very cool Cali session with the look and feel of a cozy little meadow was a perfect place to turn some of the best tunes on ‘Positions’ into utterly memorable performances. Go Team Ari. She reproves her queen status with the swag she shows while skipping toward the camera at the start of “34+35.” The lustful lyrics are in the air, and visions of a private evening with boo accent the naughty atmosphere. The song has become a certified classic since it arrived last fall. Its steamy luster is obvious here.

When a new song feels familiar to the ear upon the first listen, you know there's plenty of craft at work. Time and again, this is a trick that Tori Kelly pulls off quite gracefully. Ever since 2016's 'Unbreakable Smile' album, the songwriter has delivered a parade of titles that feel simultaneously fresh and familiar. That massive Ed Sheeran collab, the gorgeous "Should've Been Us," the passionate duet with Kirk Franklin - they're rock solid and super catchy, turning listeners into fans and fans into zealots. Once you're rolling with her, you're pretty much rolling forever. The songs on her new 'tori' EP boast the same signature craft, even as the adventurous singer leads us through some novel new territory, such as the enticingly progressive moves of "young gun" and "cut." Produced by Jon Bellion, the tracks bump up Kelly's R&B vibes, and with an athletic voice like hers, that's a realm in which she can feel at home. Great beats, daring vocals, solid tunes - 'tori' is a nice step forward. It's always been a pleasure to watch our 2015 LIFT alum in performance, and her visit to our studio proved she still comes on strong.
