Imagine Dragons - Nice To Meet You | Vevo Extended Play
Our Extended Play series is tailor made for a band like Imagine Dragons. On the one hand, the pop-rockers' scale and ambition can barely be contained by the stadiums they regularly sell out. For the group behind ubiquitous hits like “Thunder,” “Radioactive,” and “Believer,” success is measured in millions and billions. Such impact can feel impenetrable, but our performance-interview series is all about pulling back the curtain a bit. And on the other hand there’s singer Dan Reynolds. An open book, he’s the band’s primary songwriter, and a fascinating one at that. We saw that up close when we linked up with ID at Conway Studios, where Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, and bassist Ben McKee created their latest album, ‘LOOM,’ under the guidance of producers Mattman & Robin. “Nice To Meet You” was the final song written for the project, but ultimately became a single. Fans will love seeing this intimate performance of the track; it’s charmingly looser than the recorded version. “It should feel like party,” said Dan in rehearsals. Celebrations have only just begun - more performances and a revealing interview is on the way.

Conan Gray - Never Ending Song. An exclusive performance for Vevo.
On the title-track opener of his breathless third album, ‘Found Heaven,’ Conan Gray delivers his thesis more as a reminder than a statement. Whether it’s for himself or for his sizable and obsessed audience, who love the Texas native for the escapism his music provides, doesn’t really matter. When the horn blares, ‘Found Heaven’ races through a world he created out of ’80s Brit Pop, New Wave, and, hmmm… is that a little ‘Sam’s Town’-era Killers we hear? It's not until “Alley Rose” that the album takes a ballad break, which should reiterate the wicked propulsion of the first act, which comprises “Never Ending Song,” “Fainted Love,” and “Lonely Dancers.” Listeners who know the power of “Heather” - you know, the track that has 1.6 BILLION Spotify streams - will mark that their man has once again flexed his power ballad skills. Viewers of this performance will do the same, with the added bonus of seeing emotion he brings to the table. More from heaven on the way.

Gracie Abrams - I Knew It, I Know You | Vevo Extended Play
The world got to know Gracie Abrams this year. More importantly, she got to know herself quite a bit better too. That’s the story behind ‘The Secret of Us,’ the singer-songwriter’s lush, confessional, and revelatory second album. The 13-song project arrived this summer in the wake of successful singles “Risk” and “Close to You,” a pair of tracks that stuck a couple toes out from under the whispery quilt of her previous work. An emergence from her shell was foreshadowed: Listeners could find jubilant synths, assertively strummed guitars, and toe-tapping tempos on 2021’s “Mess It Up” and in pockets of her debut album ‘Good Riddance.’ This is an artist who once considered songwriting and singing a “private practice.” During our Extended Play short film, the LA native reflects on how her withdrawn vocal style stemmed from a desire “not to be heard” while practicing and writing in her bedroom. These days, Gracie’s getting heard a lot. ‘The Secret of Us’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. And this will be two autumns in a row that she’s opening for Taylor Swift. Followers are already responding in a huge way to these Vevo versions of songs from the album. The stirring “I Love You, I’m Sorry” take that we captured in Valentine Studios spread like wildfire across TikTok with more the 100k creates in the days following its premiere, quickly making it a high point of our young Extended Play series. Why did it resonate so well? We have a theory: fans can tell that Gracie is ready - more than ever - to show the world her true self.

Ariana Grande - pov (official live performance) | vevo
Let’s talk about Ariana Grande’s voice for a sec. At the start of this Official Live Performance of “pov,” the superstar reveals the strength, depth and emotional clout that her instrument is able to share at any given moment. It’s an extended passage that swoops to unexpected places while remaining centered. “You got more than 20-20 babe/made of glass the way you see through me,” hovers in the air, and then the band sweeps in and everything swells a bit more. But it’s Ari that has established the tone, Ari that’s carrying the ball. It’s masterful in a way, and the lush set design bolsters both the song’s dreamy mood and her fetching fashion statement. Fans know that “pov” is from last year’s ‘Positions’ - a career high point for a vocalist who has a natural way of totally enchanting her audience. We have other performances coming in this series. Follow our socials and you won’t miss a thing.

Lyrics
We used to kick it up at the park
Now she’s all grown up
Rockin them stilettos
Jumpin’ out that Mercedes truck
It was Keisha, it was Sonia, it was Tanya, it was Monique
It was Niecy, it was Keke
Now you see her at 26, all you can say is…
And I think she knows she’s the shit
Shawty is the shit
Mini dress, low key with the cap down
No heels cause she came to throw that ass around
Bodyodyodyody ‘cuz she work out
Brought the Fuji to Uchi, fuck a phone out
Tan lines, white wine for the burn out
Worldwide but she’s reppin’ for the hometown
Flew the girls to Bahamas for a night out
It’s a short life, so we’re going all out
Play some 2000s
There on shuffle
Makes me think of us in ‘08
Mmmm, takes me back to the days
It was Keisha, it was Sonia, it was Tanya, it was Monique
It was Niecy, it was Keke
Now you see her at 26, all you can say is…
Yeah I think she knows she’s the shit
Yeah, shawty next to me is the shit, the shit
Shawty is the shit, the shit,
Always been the shit, the shit
Shawty is the - mmmm
She got stamina
Gas her up
She posin’ posin’ posin’
Camera
Watch ‘em curves, drive it
Slow, ride it
Play some 2000s
There on shuffle
Makes me think of us in ‘08
It takes me back to the days
It was Keisha, it was Sonia, it was Tanya, it was Monique
It was Niecy, it was Keke
Now you see her at 26, all you can say is…
Yeah I think she knows she’s the shit
Yeah, shawty next to me is the shit, the shit
Shawty is the shit, the shit
Always been the shit, the shit
Shawty is the - mmmm
For all the girls that are learning to be women now,
Know we keep it sexy while we figure it out
You know who it is making the world go ‘round
This one’s for the girls, if you didn’t know - well ya know now
We’re learning to be women now
Know we keep it sexy while we figure it out
You know who it is that makes the world go ‘round
If you didn’t know – well ya know now

Tate McRae - hurt my feelings (Live) | Vevo Extended Play
It's a thrill to watch an artist blossom, to see them fulfill the dream of becoming an adventurous creative whose work impacts a deeply devoted audience. That's why we're tickled to continue our work with Tate McRae. Four years ago we invited the then teen to our DSCVR program, where she delivered engaging performances of "feel like shit" and "happy face." A couple years later she was back for a heart-rending piano-and-voice version of "she's all i wanna be," whose intimacy bordered on frightening. Along the way her articulation grew, her perspectives broadened, and the feels she put front and center became more powerful. YouTube channel, TikTok feed, the eloquence of each track on 'i used to think i could fly' - they all nudged her forward and deepened her relationship with her ever-grown cadre of fans. When 'THINK LATER' hit at the end of '23, it was obviously time to capture McRae in action again. Our Extended Play team worked with Tate to craft performances in settings that enhance her music and amplify her vision. The Calgary native is now an LA local, and "exes" unfolds in a shadowy SoCal bedroom where memories stand in the corners and the roller coaster of romance provides thrills both wanted and unwanted. It's the first of our Extended Play performances, so stay close - more are on their way, and each is set to have Tate share herself even further.

Ariana Grande - off the table ft. The Weeknd (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
If our Official Live Performances of “pov” and “safety net” reveal anything, it’s that Ariana Grande excels at her job because she’s so passionate about the results. You don’t hit the high notes, you don’t exude candor, and you don’t make pop music as moving as she does without crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s. A very cool Cali session with the look and feel of a cozy little meadow was a perfect place to turn some of the best tunes on ‘Positions’ into utterly memorable performances. Go Team Ari. The Weeknd showed up to assist his pal with the dreamy mood of “off the table.” As proven previously on tracks such as “Love Me Harder” and “Save Your Tears,” their chemistry is deep. The two stars glide through the song, helping each other reveal the nooks and crannies that are only obvious to accomplished musicians.

J Balvin - Azul (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
Limitless imagination is a defining characteristic of great musicians - J Balvin proves that. The Colombian superstar’s passion for creativity explodes past mere music-making, and heads into the realms of visual aesthetics, fashion and pop culture. In the last decade, the Medellin native has helped turn his city, and Latin America in general, into the coolest place to be in pop music. He wears Pikachu hoodies with not-even-dropped-yet Yeezys while riding the tops of charts from Canada to Chile. And from Pharrell to Bad Bunny to Colin Tilley, the urbano/reggaeton hero works with the only best. Naturally, we wanted to collaborate with him. When our teams joined forces in Miami to capture these performances, Balvin’s iridescent ideas flowed like the Magdalena. Taking inspiration from ‘Colores,’ the teams worked with Rio-based Penique Productions to turn the interior of a mansion into a vibrant representation of each song’s hue. “Azul” is the color of the blue sea, a symbol of Colombia's coast. Balvin brings us into his world, telling us about a lady so radiant that her beauty burns his eyes. Stay tuned - more coming soon.

Tate McRae - we're not alike (Live) | Vevo Extended Play
The Calgary native is now an LA local, and these performances of "exes," "we're not alike," and "hurt my feelings" unfold in a shadowy SoCal bedroom where memories stand in the corners and the roller coaster of romance provides thrills both wanted and unwanted. "I think it's taken time to figure out who Tate is," says the 20-year-old, "[these days] I've really figured out what my style is, what I like to write about, what I like to feel like when I'm on stage, how I like to feel, feeling sexy in my own body...that's when I feel happiest: when I'm truly in a moment with love and friendships and relationships - when you're fully there." Our portrait of Tate find her sharing herself even further.

Justin Bieber - Hold On (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
Justin Bieber’s new 'Justice' album has arrived after a string of video releases that signaled the pop star's more spiritual and self-reflective concerns. “Lonely” pondered the tribulations of a life spent in the spotlight. “Holy” magnified Justin’s personal faith, comparing it with the comfort of intimacy. Musically, that track, “Hold On” and “Peaches” hinted that R&Bieber was as strong as ever. The album "delivers some of the strongest, most tightly controlled vocal performances of his career,” applauded one outlet. We fully agree, and we’re sure to hear more of that praise after our Official Live Performances drop. Backed by a great band and performing around color-changing glass monoliths, all secluded in a forest in the Los Angeles hills, Justin brought four songs from 'Justice' to a higher level. Here’s “Hold On.”

Grupo Frontera - Bebe Dame (Vevo Studio)

Imagine Dragons - LOOM (Short Film) | Vevo Extended Play
Our Extended Play series is tailor made for a band like Imagine Dragons. On the one hand, the pop-rockers' scale and ambition can barely be contained by the stadiums they regularly sell out. For the group behind ubiquitous hits like “Thunder,” “Radioactive,” and “Believer,” success is measured in millions and billions. Such impact can feel impenetrable, but our performance-interview series is all about pulling back the curtain. And on the other hand there’s singer Dan Reynolds. An open book, he’s the band’s primary songwriter, and a fascinating one at that. We saw that up close at Conway Studios, where Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, and bassist Ben McKee created their latest album, ‘LOOM,’ under the guidance of producers Mattman & Robin. The microphones were hot during rehearsals, adding a loose and informal vibe to this short film. All three dudes were revealing. Dan touches on relationships and the Dragons core ethos. McKee calls 'LOOM' the "most focused and intentional" album of their career. Sermon energizes jam sessions. It's a uniquely holistic view of one of the world's biggest bands, powered by the earnest musical energy that only Imagine Dragons can conjure.

Doja Cat - Need To Know (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
Spend time roaming ‘Planet Her’ and you’ll know that Doja Cat’s artistic vision never sleeps. The singer’s desire to develop rich musical and visual environments for her fans is job one, and this new album, her third after ‘Amala’ and ‘Hot Pink,’ is her most fully-realized statement yet. Doja has told interviewers that she wanted to take chances, try new approaches, and create “otherworldly” sounds. Job done. The same goes for our series of Official Live Performances. After sharing creative ideas with the singer and her team, our production crew got to work in a canyon outside of LA. There, assuring that “otherworldly” request was appropriately fleshed out, we built a 48’ stage in the center of a rocky crag. Doja, banking on a combo of skills, artistry, and perseverance, did the rest. We've already presented "Love To Dream" and "Ain't Shit." Now comes the carnal coolness of "Need To Know." Doja shows us her boss side as she drives all the action in this steamy bedroom rumination, and her lithe Cali desert performance makes it all pop.

Tori Kelly - shelter. An exclusive performance for Vevo.
When a new song feels familiar to the ear upon the first listen, you know there's plenty of craft at work. Time and again, this is a trick that Tori Kelly pulls off quite gracefully. Ever since 2016's 'Unbreakable Smile' album, the songwriter has delivered a parade of titles that feel simultaneously fresh and familiar. That massive Ed Sheeran collab, the gorgeous "Should've Been Us," the passionate duet with Kirk Franklin - they're rock solid and super catchy, turning listeners into fans and fans into zealots. Once you're rolling with her, you're pretty much rolling forever. The songs on her new 'tori' EP boast the same signature craft, even as the adventurous singer leads us through some novel new territory, such as the enticingly progressive moves of "young gun" and "cut." Produced by Jon Bellion, the tracks bump up Kelly's R&B vibes, and with an athletic voice like hers, that's a realm in which she can feel at home. Great beats, daring vocals, solid tunes - 'tori' is a nice step forward. It's always been a pleasure to watch our 2015 LIFT alum in performance, and her visit to our studio proved she still comes on strong. “Check “shelter,” “alive if i die,” and “missin u - r&b edit” and let us know if you agree in the comments.”

The music on Lorde's 'Melodrama' reflects the wealth of emotions the New Zealand native has experienced of late, and they’re rendered with the kind of poise we’ve come to expect from the pop superstar. Her voice, the melodies, the arrangements she’s chosen to help landscape her feelings - this critically-acclaimed second album is particularly fetching because the 20-year-old singer trusts her idiosyncrasies to fuel her eloquence. “Let’s let things come out of the woodwork,” she coos on “Homemade Dynamite.” That’s what makes the six performances of ‘VEVO X Lorde’ so powerful as well. All her best ideas naturally seep to the surface. Filmed at Electric Lady Sound Studios in New York’s West Village, the mid-August session found Lorde moving through key songs from ‘Melodrama,’ providing each with the proper temperament for the occasion. The set list features “The Louvre,” “Sober,” “Writer In The Dark,” “Supercut,” “Homemade Dynamite,” and “Hard Feelings”/ “Loveless” – she chose to spotlight some of the album’s most vivid moments. Whether backed by a small ensemble, playing the piano alone, or singing a cappella with a squad of vocalists and a beatbox, she brings invention and intensity to the performances. The soft addition of strings and brass adds to the show’s intimacy, and the drama that she’s built a rep on is central to every moment. Jack Antonoff of Bleachers, who produced and co-wrote parts of ‘Melodrama,’ arrives on “Writer In The Dark” to support his pal as well.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
In my head, I play a supercut of us
All the magic we gave off
All the love we had and lost
And in my head
The visions never stop
These ribbons wrap me up
But when I reach for you
There's just a supercut
[Pre-Chorus]
In your car, the radio up
In your car, the radio up
We keep trying to talk about us
I'm someone you maybe might love
I’ll be your quiet afternoon crush
Be your violent overnight rush
Make you crazy over my touch
[Chorus]
But it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
Oh it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
[Verse 2]
So I fall
Into continents and cars
All the stages and the stars
I turn all of it
To just a supercut
[Refrain]
'Cause in my head (in my head, I do everything right)
When you call (when you call, I'll forgive and not fight)
Because ours are the moments I play in the dark
We were wild and fluorescent, come home to my heart, uh
[Pre-Chorus]
In your car, the radio up
In your car, the radio up
We keep trying to talk about us
Slow motion, I'm watching our love
I’ll be your quiet afternoon crush
Be your violent overnight rush
Make you crazy over my touch
[Chorus]
But it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
Oh it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
But it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
Oh it's just a supercut of us
Supercut of us
[Refrain]
In my head, I do everything right
When you call, I'll forgive and not fight
Are the moments I play in the dark
And fluorescent, come home to my heart, uh
'Cause in my head (in my head, I do everything right)
When you call (when you call, I'll forgive and not fight)
Because ours are the moments I play in the dark
We were wild and fluorescent, come home to my heart, uh
'Cause in my head (in my head, I do everything right)

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell. An exclusive performance for Vevo.
You could tell by the way he raged through Generation X's "Ready Steady Go" in 1978, when punk was peaking. Billy Idol filled the performance with a blend of vehement put-down and celebratory joy. Once he split from the band and went solo, that rage, along with a sweet sneer and a lot of lust, still defined his public stance. His self-titled '82 debut contained the pounding "White Wedding." It's wildly successful follow-up, cut at NYC's Electric Lady Studios, blasted along on the power of numerous hits, including "Rebel Yell," "Catch My Fall," "Flesh for Fantasy," and "Eyes Without a Face." The singer is currently celebrating the 40th anniversary of this victory, and he came into our LA studio to knock out feisty versions of the title cut and "Eyes Without A Face." In an exclusive Footnotes interview, he also explained how the latter vid was conceived and created (think graveyards and monsters). His old pal Steve Stevens was on guitar, of course. Together they put plenty of oomph in the former and bit of evil in the latter. Check the performances, and be aware that a deluxe 40th anny version of the album awaits you wherever vinyl is sold.

Lyrics
Lying in bed
Replaying the shit you said
Ever regret all the messing with my head?
‘Cause I’ve been thinking
You’d never give me peace of mind, so I had to give it to myself
You never think it’s the right time until I’m good with someone else
You’d probably have me for a lifetime, if you didn’t need some help
I wish,
I wish,
I wish you’d say
You were right
That I want you when you’re not mine
And just when I think I know how to live without you
I forget why I try
You were right
And I fucked up, baby, big time
And just when I think I could fall in love without you
I forget why I try
You were the best of all time
Texts I won’t send
We both know how that shit ends
Trying again
Too jealous to just be friends
‘Cuz now I’m thinking
You’d never ask me who I’m giving all of my body to now
You never ask me ‘bout these nights,
Baby I pray that you find out
You couldn’t give me your heart, boy
Go and eat your heart out
I wish you’d say
You were right
That I want you when you’re not mine
And just when I think I know how to live without you
I forget why I try
You were right
And I fucked up, baby, big time
And just when I think I could fall in love without you
I forget why I try
You were the best of all time

The EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, once again presented itself with a breathtaking stage concept and numerous technical innovations in the show area. The delegations were able to perform in all directions on a massive cross-shaped stage. The negative space above the stage was artistically enchanted with 199 C1 chain hoists. The five central video cubes were playfully surrounded by 20 massive light pods equipped with Ayrton Rivale moving lights. Of course, this was only a part of the well over 2,000 light fixtures that were used. Ola Melzig (Senior Technical Director), Florian Wieder (Set Designer) and above all Fredrik Stormby (Light & Screen Content Designer) explain for EventElevator the challenges and tools they used to ensure that SVT and EBU were able to thrill millions of viewers worldwide. Furthermore, Head of Sound Oskar Johannson adds some facts about the sound setup in the Malmö Arena.
Check out the individual performances of the delegations via the EUROVISION YouTube channel. It's worth it, because the camera work is some of the best ever seen at EUROVISION SONG CONTEST.
