keshi - LIMBO. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.
The last time we worked with keshi was in 2020 for our DSCVR At Home series, which brought live performances to the masses during lockdown. Back then, supporting his hushed ballad “More,” we hinted that an album was in the works. Next week it finally arrives. The versatile singer/rapper/producer asserts that ‘Gabriel’ is about his “life at the moment; it’s very honest and candid.” That latter word certainly describes “GET IT,” a boldly bumpin’ and lyrically brash track that announces keshi is yet again pushing the boundaries of his craft. As he goes through his checklist - “Got my money (Check) / Lady (Check) / Rollie (Check) / Mary (Check)” - it’s easy to see this is an artist whose confidence is sky high. He brought that authority to our studio, too, reeling in the swag a bit and adding a pinch of earnestness. “ANGOSTURA” dives even deeper into his R&B bag. Then there’s “LIMBO,” which proves he’s willing to throw an acoustic guitar over his shoulder and belt falsettos. Mr. Versatile strikes again.

Ela Taubert - ¿Para Qué? (Live).
Colombian singer-songwriter Ela Taubert is destined for stardom – there’s no doubt about it. More than just a new “It Girl” in Latin pop, Ela has turned her art into a safe space for listeners to explore the stories, conflicts and raw feelings involved with the matters of the heart. In her first project, ‘¿Quién Dijo Que Era Fácil?,’ the composer hits the mark with gut-wrenching descriptions of heartbreak and the whirlwind of vulnerability of adolescence. Frenetic guitars and bright melodies provide a shot of rock ‘n’ roll to the mix, harkening to Shakira, Reik and the golden era of Latin pop during the early aughts. “When [fans] hear my songs, I think the most important thing is that they feel less lonely,” Ela says. “I think that’s the gift that we can do with music.” Her intimate concert series Nuestro Refugio is a reflection of the rapport and closeness she has achieved with her fans along the way. Her tenacity and charisma has paid dividends, with Karol G tapping Ela for an opening slot on her Bogota stop of the Mañana Será Bonito tour. As the most recent winner of Premios Juventud’s New Generation - Female category, Ela seems poised to take the crown. The rising star dominated our DSCVR stage with her undeniable spark and chutzpah during her live performance of “¿Para Qué?” and “¿Cómo Pasó?” and we are thirsty for more.

LETRA
Prometimos tenernos para siempre
Qué raro se siente
Lo que nunca se cumplió
Según tú
El amor no es suficiente
Y lograste convencerme
Tienes algo de razón
Y ahora me vuelves a buscar
A decirme que estás listo
para volver a empezar
Si fuiste tú
El que se fue para olvidarme
Para ti
Siempre he sido reemplazable
Fuiste tú el que no quiso quedarse
Y ahora vienes a extrañarme
Cuando no supiste amarme
Ya es demasiado tarde
¿Por qué
Te dio por querer volver?
¿Dime cómo voy a creer
Que no vas a irte otra vez?
Por algo no funcionó
Las cosas no siempre se arreglan
Déjame seguir
Ya no vuelvas más
Si fuiste tú
El que se fue para olvidarme
Para ti
Siempre he sido reemplazable
Fuiste tú el que no quiso quedarse
Y ahora vienes a extrañarme
Cuando no supiste amarme
Porque ya es demasiado tarde
No supiste amarme
Yo sí te quería
Y tú querías alejarte
No supiste amarme
Es demasiado tarde
Yo si te quería
Y tú querías encontrarme
En otra parte
Fuiste tú
El que se fue para olvidarme
Para ti
Siempre he sido reemplazable
Fuiste tú el que no quiso quedarse
Y ahora vienes a extrañarme
Cuando no supiste amarme
Fuiste tú el que no quiso quedarse
Y ahora vienes a extrañarme
Cuando no supiste amarme
Ya es demasiado tarde

Gracie Abrams - I Knew It, I Know You | Vevo Extended Play
The world got to know Gracie Abrams this year. More importantly, she got to know herself quite a bit better too. That’s the story behind ‘The Secret of Us,’ the singer-songwriter’s lush, confessional, and revelatory second album. The 13-song project arrived this summer in the wake of successful singles “Risk” and “Close to You,” a pair of tracks that stuck a couple toes out from under the whispery quilt of her previous work. An emergence from her shell was foreshadowed: Listeners could find jubilant synths, assertively strummed guitars, and toe-tapping tempos on 2021’s “Mess It Up” and in pockets of her debut album ‘Good Riddance.’ This is an artist who once considered songwriting and singing a “private practice.” During our Extended Play short film, the LA native reflects on how her withdrawn vocal style stemmed from a desire “not to be heard” while practicing and writing in her bedroom. These days, Gracie’s getting heard a lot. ‘The Secret of Us’ debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. And this will be two autumns in a row that she’s opening for Taylor Swift. Followers are already responding in a huge way to these Vevo versions of songs from the album. The stirring “I Love You, I’m Sorry” take that we captured in Valentine Studios spread like wildfire across TikTok with more the 100k creates in the days following its premiere, quickly making it a high point of our young Extended Play series. Why did it resonate so well? We have a theory: fans can tell that Gracie is ready - more than ever - to show the world her true self.

Billie Eilish - bellyache - Live Performance (Vevo LIFT Live Sessions)
Don’t bother to pigeonhole Billie Eilish. She zigs while you zag, forcing a periodic reassessment of your take on her. And know what? That’s the sign of a true artist, someone whose curiosity is in lock-step with their creativity. It’s a long way from the heart-on-sleeve delicacy of "Ocean Eyes" to the eerie rumble of "you should see me in a crown," so here's a heads up: Billie's always on the move; the LA teen has steadily widened her sound in the last two years. When her name first bubbled up in 2016, her music had both an ethereal vibe and a wisdom that belied her years. That's when we began falling for her, and shot our Vevo Meets profile. After hearing the depth of her 'don't smile at me' debut, we invited Billie to be part of our DSCVR and LIFT programs. When she hit Brooklyn get close to her fans in the LIFT Live shows, she was in top form. Watch her prowl the stage on "when the party's over," "you should see me in a crown," and "bellyache." She gets more and more compelling every month.

Gracie Abrams - Fault line. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.
Gracie Abrams and Vevo first crossed paths when we captured a couple cozy DSCVR performances from her backyard during the pandemic. Matter of fact, that was some of her first performance content ever. We were high on the smoky-voiced singer-songwriter from the jump, before her first live shows, before she gave her ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ EP to the world, before her Insta followers jumped from a perfectly impressive 300k to an undeniable 1.8 million. All those things are intertwined, by the way. Her legion of fans now hang on every note at packed shows. And oh yeah, talent knows talent; Gracie's been warming up stadium stages for Taylor Swift of late, an incomparable spotlight moment for the indie guitar tenderness heard on Abrams' debut album, ‘Good Riddance,’ which arrived in Feb and just got a deluxe update. Be warned before you dive into “Where do we go now?” and “Fault line.” Those lush waves of indecision and anxiety that she controls with quiet gravity can drag you into an emotional rip current before you know it. In that case, best to let go.

Jess Glynne - Promise Me. An exclusive live performance for Vevo.
Jess Glynne has little problem being heard. In the past decade, the singer has captained a handful of pop-EDM hits. Consider 2015’s ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ and 2018’s ‘Always In Between’ albums. The former contained the jaunty smash “Hold My Hand,” a track that instantly induces head bobs and toe taps. Don’t forget the somber “Take Me Home” and raucous “Don’t Be so Hard on Yourself.” That threesome alone has been played 1 billion times on Spotify. Easy to get complacent with those numbers. Instead, the London native decided to carve more depth into her craft, and was rewarded with her wildly successful follow-up “I’ll Be There,” which had folks crying in the club. Plus: her “These Days” collab with Macklemore and Rudimental spent seven weeks at number two on the charts (if not for “God’s Plan” it would’ve triumphed). So yes, there’s a big appetite for Miss Glynn. The six-year wait for her new ‘JESS’ album has only heightened that hunger. “Promise Me” is the last track on the album, and the first release from our sessions with her. It strips things back, revealing how the key to her success is the power of that voice. Meanwhile, her “Say No” performance elevates the ballad’s recorded version. Both are great. We’re partial to this one, though, purely off those vocal flourishes.

Olivia Rodrigo - get him back! | Vevo Official Live Performance
Only superlatives come to mind when trying to sum up Olivia Rodrigo’s last few years. Her incredibly impactful debut ballad ‘drivers license’ goes hand in hand with words such as “most” and “best”: most streams on Spotify in a single day and week, Top 100 most-streamed songs on the platform, the Best Pop Solo Performance award at that year’s GRAMMYs. That the teen sensation could follow the “drivers license” craze with “good 4 u,” “deja vu,” and ultimately her debut album ‘SOUR’ - all now equally beloved - was the first sign that the pop world had a rarified capital S Superstar on its hands. You can forget about that dreaded sophomore slump too. Thanks in part to her trusty producer sidekick Dan Nigro, ‘GUTS’ elevates all the ingredients that really popped in ’SOUR,’ the 90s slacker rock guitar arrangements and riffs, the theater-kid earnestness, the talkative asides. There’s one key thematic difference. “Lots of the new songs are about growing up rather than breakups,” Olivia proudly stated recently. When we linked up with her at the Million Dollar Theater in LA, not only had her wattage grown brighter, her command of the stage and camera were somehow even stronger than before. The chosen acoustic slant of “get him back!” doesn’t take away from its puckish edge. In fact, it feels like you’ve crashed the band's rehearsal sesh, where you’re happily stomping and clapping along in the corner while they make a some magic.

Tori Kelly - missin u - r&b edit. An exclusive performance for Vevo.
When a new song feels familiar to the ear upon the first listen, you know there's plenty of craft at work. Time and again, this is a trick that Tori Kelly pulls off quite gracefully. Ever since 2016's 'Unbreakable Smile' album, the songwriter has delivered a parade of titles that feel simultaneously fresh and familiar. That massive Ed Sheeran collab, the gorgeous "Should've Been Us," the passionate duet with Kirk Franklin - they're rock solid and super catchy, turning listeners into fans and fans into zealots. Once you're rolling with her, you're pretty much rolling forever. The songs on her new 'tori' EP boast the same signature craft, even as the adventurous singer leads us through some novel new territory, such as the enticingly progressive moves of "young gun" and "cut." Produced by Jon Bellion, the tracks bump up Kelly's R&B vibes, and with an athletic voice like hers, that's a realm in which she can feel at home. Great beats, daring vocals, solid tunes - 'tori' is a nice step forward. It's always been a pleasure to watch our 2015 LIFT alum in performance, and her visit to our studio proved she still comes on strong. Check “shelter,” “alive if i die,” and “missin u - r&b edit” and let us know if you agree in the comments.

Ariana Grande - off the table ft. The Weeknd (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
If our Official Live Performances of “pov” and “safety net” reveal anything, it’s that Ariana Grande excels at her job because she’s so passionate about the results. You don’t hit the high notes, you don’t exude candor, and you don’t make pop music as moving as she does without crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s. A very cool Cali session with the look and feel of a cozy little meadow was a perfect place to turn some of the best tunes on ‘Positions’ into utterly memorable performances. Go Team Ari. The Weeknd showed up to assist his pal with the dreamy mood of “off the table.” As proven previously on tracks such as “Love Me Harder” and “Save Your Tears,” their chemistry is deep. The two stars glide through the song, helping each other reveal the nooks and crannies that are only obvious to accomplished musicians.

Conan Gray - Never Ending Song. An exclusive performance for Vevo.
On the title-track opener of his breathless third album, ‘Found Heaven,’ Conan Gray delivers his thesis more as a reminder than a statement. Whether it’s for himself or for his sizable and obsessed audience, who love the Texas native for the escapism his music provides, doesn’t really matter. When the horn blares, ‘Found Heaven’ races through a world he created out of ’80s Brit Pop, New Wave, and, hmmm… is that a little ‘Sam’s Town’-era Killers we hear? It's not until “Alley Rose” that the album takes a ballad break, which should reiterate the wicked propulsion of the first act, which comprises “Never Ending Song,” “Fainted Love,” and “Lonely Dancers.” Listeners who know the power of “Heather” - you know, the track that has 1.6 BILLION Spotify streams - will mark that their man has once again flexed his power ballad skills. Viewers of this performance will do the same, with the added bonus of seeing emotion he brings to the table. More from heaven on the way.

Gracie Abrams - Free Now | Vevo Extended Play

J Balvin - Negro (Official Live Performance) | Vevo
Limitless imagination is a defining characteristic of great musicians - J Balvin proves that. The Colombian superstar’s passion for creativity explodes past mere music-making, and heads into the realms of visual aesthetics, fashion and pop culture. In the last decade, the Medellin native has helped turn his city, and Latin America in general, into the coolest place to be in pop music. He wears Pikachu hoodies with not-even-dropped-yet Yeezys while riding the tops of charts from Canada to Chile. And from Pharrell to Bad Bunny to Colin Tilley, the urbano/reggaeton hero works with the only best. Naturally, we wanted to collaborate with him. When our teams joined forces in Miami to capture these performances, Balvin’s iridescent ideas flowed like the Magdalena. Taking inspiration from ‘Colores,’ the teams worked with Rio-based Penique Productions to turn the interior of a mansion into a vibrant representation of each song’s hue. Next up: “Negro.” Perhaps the sleekest lookin’ of all the performances, this one feels almost sci-fi. Balvin, the pink in his ornate hair pattern standing out against the blackness, looks like the noir anti-hero. Stay tuned - there’s more.
